SAP Parent Support offer

My role as the SAP Family Support worker is to help strengthen relationships between parent/carers and the school where children are displaying SEMH needs both at school and home, or where relationships between home and school have become strained.

I can

  • offer emotional and practical support to parents and their families, in their own homes and in the community.
  • offer a whole family / family centred approach to families and who are identified as part of
  •  build a trusting relationship with the parents and young people
  •  use my knowledge and understanding of local resources and community and statutory services, including Mental Health Teams, Social Services, Health, CAMHS, Schools and voluntary services, and communicate effectively with them in the best interests of the child and family.

We have a fabulous team with a wealth of knowledge to assess the needs of the families referred for support and participate in the reviews and evaluation of the work.

I am people focused always reflecting a ‘can do’ approach and striving for excellence in everything I do, this shows in the strong relationships I build easily. I have mutual respect for everyone we work with and have understanding of safeguarding requirements for children and vulnerable adults. I have experience of safeguarding in schools and am fully DSL trained. I have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, the ability to work both independently and as a member of a team.
