SAP Counselling offer
The Partnership has allocated funding to commission a qualified counsellor, Sally Wileman, for 2 ½ days per week.
Sally is a trained primary school teacher and a qualified counsellor, trained to work with children, young people and adults. She did her primary school, play based therapy training with a Place2Be the organisation supported by the Duchess of Cambridge, Royal Patron. Sally has worked for CAMHS and the voluntary sector. She is able to work with children and young people with a range of difficulties including: anxiety, stress, depression, fears/phobias, anger, self-harm, bereavement, relationship problems, trauma, identity issues. Sally offers play and art-based therapy for children e.g. sand therapy, puppets, games, painting, clay, drawing.
Information for schools and referral paperwork can be found in the documents below. Counselling sessions are allocated by the Sherwood Area Partnership Panel that meets each half term to consider referrals.
Criteria for referral:
- Has already received additional support from school staff for emotional needs as part of a graduated response
- Is not currently receiving support from another specialist service e.g. CAMHS, Think Children, Newark Bereavement Centre
- The child understands what a play session is and is positive about attending
- The parent gives consent, a way of transporting the child to and from sessions is available and there is a commitment to attend all sessions
